Its nice to have on the desktop, I wish it wasnt awful
Texting is an application that is nice to have on desktop as well as a mobile, particularly when you have multi-person, ongoing coversations. A number of friends and I use it for just this -- we chat about stuff and have for weeks at a time in various subgroups.
Its thus really, really nice to have a desktop application. However, this desktop application doesnt have spell checking. It doesnt cut and paste very well. The easy cases work others dont. Many, many other things that basic apps should have this doesnt. It doesnt even do retina screens very well.
There are other things like if you have your phone and this, they dont keep track of whats been seen or not -- this is a problem that Wickr uniquely has because of its stupid idea that I want to touch/click a message before reading it. So I end up with "unread" messages on one place or another that I cant find if the conversation is hot and heavy -- and every time a new message comes in, it scrolls to the bottom. Amusingly, timed out unread messages dont go away. At least they float to the top because everything else expired.
It seems that this app was witten using a cross-platform toolkit and thats part of the issue.
Perhaps I shouldnt give it one star. Its better than nothing. Its better than not having a desktop app at all. Its a stinker, but its not so bad that I deleted it.
